Flower Puns

It troubles me how hard I have to think to remember what happened during the week.
Nonetheless, this is what we have:
Thursday we went to the temple to start doing some family names and found this sign. Some people take pictures with general authorities; we take pictures with signs that say "General Authorities."

Friday we went to the tulip festival at Thanksgiving Point with some friends of ours. Darrell ran into one of the sisters from his mission and we got to see the incredible display they're phasing in. We spent the rest of the time being bad influences on kids by teaching them how to shoot the fountains at people, coming up with flower puns, and dodging the people in golf carts and on segways. We won't mention the gorging that happened at JCW's after.

Saturday we took a bike ride on the Provo River Trail. We/I decided to ride the whole thing sometime this summer. We'll see how that pans out. Then we went to the RSL game and got some awesome seats on accident. We love that team, but man was it a sad game!
Today we went and got Darrell's motorcycle from Darrell's uncle's house so we can start doing some seriously awesome Sunday afternoon rides!
...And that's all I remember right now. Ergo, I think it's time for bed.
Spoiler Alert: Graduation pictures are coming next week! I'm walking 5 months after the fact and I plan to make it look good.

We Don't Journal Much...

Since getting married 5 months ago, we've had many a conversation about how we really either need to start being better at keeping a journal or start a blog. You can draw your own conclusions about how that's gone. Nevertheless, here we are. A friend of ours blogs each week or month about the highlights in their life and then prints a book each year so they can keep that as a permanent record. We may not always be original, but we do recognize a good idea and copy it when we see it. This brings us to blog post #1:
We met a year ago this week at an Anberlin concert at USU via our mutual friend, Kyle. (Yes, we owe him our undying gratitude for facilitating that meeting so well, though unintentionally.) I'm sure that story will be told in greater detail another day, but suffice it to say, a year later we are ridiculously happy and plan to name one of our kids somehow after Anberlin despite their ignorance of our wedding invite.
For tonight we'll just go back until the wedding and cover pre-married life later.
We got married in the Logan temple the first weekend of December. I skipped my last day of my undergraduate career (worth it), Darrell pretty much took the month off from work so we could hang out (also worth it), and family/friends came from all over. I loved my dress and my babe of a husband pulled that suit off pretty well, I must say. It was an incredible day and I can't think of a time when I've felt more loved, blessed or supported. As you can see, we were about happy enough for our faces to fall off.

We honeymooned in St George where we caught up on 3 months worth of sleep, saw the movie Lincoln, watched Darrell's sister Mindy sing in "The Forgotten Carols," hiked Angel's landing, ate lots of junk, attempted to go bowling (league nights are lame), and just enjoyed time away from real life.

We got home, moved in to our basement apartment in Orem, and got settled. A quick trip to Idaho to watch USU win the Potato Bowl, and we spent Christmas in Smithfield with the Rawlinses and New Year's snowmobiling and hanging out at Darrell's mission companion's cabin...followed by a run-in with a snowbank on the way home and two near run-ins with deer.
At the end of January we went to Omaha for our open house, to spend time with my side of the family, and to see my best friend Erika who had just gotten home from her mission.
Valentine's Day was spent on a work trip with Darrell in California where we accidentally ate really expensive Greek food and wandered Lombard Street eating pints of ice cream. We toured San Francisco, went to the Oakland temple, hung out at a vineyard "working" for an afternoon, ate good chowder and sourdough, went to Alcatraz, saw the Winchester Mansion, and walked the SF Bay Bridge. Add in there one insanely large parking fee, massive amounts of anxiety from me in the passenger seat whilst driving through that city in our rented Prius, and us finally deciding that against popular opinion, public transportation is a perfectly navigable and viable option in San Fran.

We fit in a few extra trips to Vernal and Logan for work aka we visited family and friends in Logan and ate at Wingers in Vernal.
I tried skiing for the first time.

We went to Mesquite and St George over Easter.

Got some awesome seats at a Real SL game.

Lastly, we went to meet our new niece Elsie and hang out with these kiddos in Washington two weeks ago.

Crazy five months? Yes. Awesome five months? More so, yes. Now we're both weighted down with a crappier but more typical newlywed schedule with both of us working full-time, callings in our ward with the youth, and other time constraints. We still manage to get some fun times in though, and I love every moment I get to spend with this guy.

Even when I'm fighting "fuzz bum" for who gets to snuggle with him.

Hopefully we'll be back with more (though probably shorter) posts soon!
